This work seeks to demonstrate how the biological variability of poisons, their chemical individuality and isolated action of compounds directly influence the symptoms of poisoning. Therefore, the main objective of the article is to present a summary of the following topics: snake venoms, chemical composition, biological variability and their influence on the clinical condition of victims.
The scientific research method used was surveyed through bibliographical research in the main databases, Repitile Data Base, SBH, Google Scholar, Scielo, Pubmed, between the years 1979 and 2020. The final considerations warn about how significant in-depth studies are regarding the animal europe mobile number list substances found and their respective effects on the human body, with a view to clarifying pathologies and questions currently unanswered in biological fields. Keywords: Biological variability, animal poisons, snakebites, health. 1. INTRODUCTION Animal poisons are complex substances that developed according to natural selection over millions of years. Poison, by definition, is considered any substance, prepared or natural, which, due to its chemical action, is capable of destroying or disturbing the vital functions of an organism (STOCKER, 1990). Their compositions may vary according to families, groups, genera and species.
Factors such as geographic isolation, diet, ontogeny, seasonality, sex, habits, physical and physiological peculiarities can alter its chemical composition and consequently its biological actions (JORGE DA SILVA and AIRD, 2001). With the advancement of lineages, groups of snakes acquired specialized organs for inoculation and venom production like the Colubridae, Elapidae and Viperidae , thus generating greater interest due to the possibility of accidents with humans, and future discoveries related to their complex venom.
