I have recently learned that RollerCoaster Tycoon has been almost entirely coded in assembly with some C because of the Windows open dialog window. I've taken an introduction class last semester in assembly and nine times out of ten when I tried to create a program in assembly, it would fail to work correctly. It's hard to learn and get working correctly. You have to "be one with the machine" or so to speak. For those who don't know what assembly is, it is a lower level coding language which allows a program coded in it to run at it's fastest and use the absolute minimum resources possible if the code is generated correctly by the coder. This would explain the ridiculously low system requirements for such a complicated game. I congratulate Chris Sawyer for his achievement coding RollerCoaster Tycoon almost entirely in assembly because if I tried doing this, it would just completely blow my mind. My teacher is obsessed with assembly and once I told her about RollerCoaster Tycoon being coded in assembly, she went nuts. Source
